Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was rumored for a few matches over the past months, but nothing ever came about. Instead, Evans will return to action in February at UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
While some have questioned the pairing, Evans is not one of them. “Suga” recently talked with MMACanada.net about the booking.
“I haven’t fought in a long time and I’m coming off a loss so this (fight) made sense to me,” Evans said. “(Nogueira) is trying to break into the top echelon of fighters and deservedly so. He’s a tough competitor, has a lot of experience and he’s been doing this for a long time.”
Evans (17-2-1) had a four-fight win streak snapped by Jon Jones when they met this past April. His only other loss came to Lyoto Machida in his first title defense after securing the belt in 2008 against Forrest Griffin.
