Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez walked to the Octagon in late 2011 with an injured knee. Despite needing surgery, Velasquez didn’t pull out of the bout with Junior dos Santos in the main event of the first UFC on Fox card.
However, Velasquez was unable to retain his title, falling in the first round to dos Santos. Now, the two will meet on December 29 at UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II.
“I don’t think it was the best decision (to fight), but I did it anyways,” said Velasquez, during a conference call Wednesday. “It’s in the past.”
Dos Santos was also injured just prior to the bout, and Velasquez said, “we are just guys that go in and fight.” Velasquez added that he is 100-percent healthy leading up to this second fight with “Cigano.”
