Alexander Emelianenko, the younger brother of former heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko, has announced his retirement from MMA. Emelianenko is 31 years old, but was recently released from his contract with M-1 Global due to a breach.
Emelianenko made the announcement on his Facebook page. He started his fighting career in 2003 and amassed a record of 21-6.
In his last bout, Emelianenko was defeated by Jeff Monson in November via submission. The defeat snapped a four-fight win streak for the Russian.
Fedor Emelianenko retired from MMA earlier this year, as well, following a victory over Pedro Rizzo.
