Dana White On If Sara McMann Turned Down Ronda Rousey And If She Is Welcome In The UFC

Sara McMann’s (6-0) camp earlier remark that she was never offered a potential fight with Ronda Rousey (6-0) is not true, says UFC President Dana White. White said that he believes that she’s a future title contender, but that she wants more fights under her name first.

“She said she didn’t say it, but she said it,” said White about McMann turning down a fight with Rousey. “She wants a fight or two before she fights Ronda Rousey. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Ronda Rousey’s nasty. You want a couple fights before you fight her? That’s no big deal. But don’t walk around talking s— that you didn’t say it when you did say it.”

White did mention that there is a spot for her in the women’s division when they start early next year.

“She’s definitely one of the girls that will be in it,” said White.

McMann’s last fight was scratched when Strikeforce cancelled their November card. She is not scheduled for their final show in January. Her last appearance was at Invicta FC 2, where she picked up her sixth win and third via decision.

In the meantime, Rousey will make UFC history when she competes in the first female MMA fight for the UFC. She meets Liz Carmouche (7-2) at UFC 157 on February 26. They will headline the show out of Anaheim, CA from the Honda Center.
