Wanderlei Silva (32-12-1-1 NC) only fought once in 2012 but hopes to return next year when the UFC heads back to Japan, according to his Muay Thai trainer Rafael Cordeiro.
“It is a big possibility,” said Cordeiro to TATAME. “It is the will that he has. Wanderlei cannot stay out of the Octagon.”
On Tuesday, Silva posted a tweet stating that he was ready to return. The former PRIDE middleweight champion made a name for himself during his eight years spent in Japan.
Since Silva returned to the UFC in 2007, he hasn’t been able to gain much momentum, and suffered a loss to Rich Franklin in his last outing.
UFC on Fuel TV 8 will host the promotion’s return to Japan after having a show in the country last year. The card takes place March 3 from the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. No fights have been announced for the event.
