Anderson Silva Requests 10-Fight UFC Contract

During a recent fan chat held over the weekend, UFC president Dana White was asked about the future of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. “The Spider” is coming off a victory over Stephen Bonnar and has two fights left on his current deal.

White responded that Silva turned down an eight-fight extension, saying, “(Expletive) that, I want a 10-fight deal.”

Silva, who is 37 years old, fought twice this year and twice in 2011. If he kept that up, he would be finishing his contract around 42 or 43 years old.

The Brazilian is looking to match up with UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in a super-fight several years in the making, but the bout has hit several snags in recent days. The middleweight division remains a cloudy mess at the top, but could be getting a boost with the expected inclusion of Strikeforce 185-pound champion Luke Rockhold.
