If Mike Swick (15-4) only checked his Myspace account a little more frequently, he would have noticed he had a big fan in Matt Brown (15-11).
“[Swick] was the first fighter I really looked up to on The Ultimate Fighter 1,” said Brown to MMA Fighting. “I actually even wrote him a message on Myspace, and I was real pissed because he never replied to my message. I was like, ‘He’s an a——.'”
In the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter, Swick was selected as one of the contestants. He went on to lose in the semifinals to runner-up Stephan Bonnar (15-8), but was offered a UFC contract at the end of the season. Swick, who is 10-3 in the UFC, is coming off a win after being sidelined the last two years due to injuries.
Brown was a member of the seventh season of TUF, which he lost in the quarterfinals. He will enter the Octagon for the third time this year. He won the previous three fights, with Brown stopping two of those via TKO.
Swick vs. Brown will be the opening fight on the main card of UFC on FOX 5. The card takes place this Saturday, December 8, from the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington. The main card starts at 8 p.m. ET.
