Kenny Florian provided his expert opinion on Saturday’s UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Diaz main event on UFC Tonight earlier this week. The bout features Benson Henderson defending his UFC lightweight title against Nate Diaz.
“This is a battle between two southpaws, two of the best in the world,” Florian said. “I think Henderson is going to get it done. It is not going to be easy. He is going to work hard, but he is going to get the win here.”
Florian pointed to Henderson’s advantages in takedowns, his ground game and “great guillotine game.” Henderson defended the title against Frankie Edgar earlier this year after winning it from “The Answer” in Japan.
Diaz, Florian said, “is really great at keeping his feet in the right place where he can hit you and avoid being hit back. That is what makes him one of the most dangerous fighters in the division.” Diaz claimed his title shot after defeating Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller.
As for the other main card bouts, Florian picked Alexander Gustafsson over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Rory MacDonald to defeat BJ Penn.
