Phil Davis Knows To Never Count Forrest Griffin Out

Phil Davis knows that former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin is the definition of a grinder. Just when you think Griffin is out, he’ll come firing back.

Davis and Griffin are set for the co-main event of the year-end UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II card which takes place from Las Vegas. Davis replaced Chael Sonnen after Sonnen accepted a spot on The Ultimate Fighter as a coach.

“Everything he has, he will try to hit you with,” Davis said. “He’s almost better when he’s down a round-and-a-half. That’s when he”s most dangerous.”

Griffin (19-7) is 3-1 in his last four, which each of his last eight fights coming against former or current UFC champions. He topped Tito Ortiz for the second time earlier this year.

“I’m ready for everything that goes along with fighting Forrest Griffin,” said Davis, who defeated Wagner Prado in October. “I’m more or less ready to write my own story. This is one of those fights.”

Davis (10-1) suffered his first pro defeat at the hands of Rashad Evans back in January. He had won his previous nine fights.
