Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s (32-10) recent comments indicate that his UFC fighting days are coming to an end. Jackson has one official fight left on his contract, and is expected to fight Glover Teixeira (19-2) next.
“I’m training a lot because this is my last fight in the UFC,” Jackson told TATAME. “You do not think I want to go out with a defeat?”
The two were scheduled to be in the co-main event of UFC 153. A month out, Jackson pulled from the fight with an injury. Teixeira defeated a replacement in Fabio Maldonado (18-6). After the win, Jackson tweeted Dana White asking him to make the match happen.
“I want to go out with a knockout,” said Jackson. “Glover is a big problem for me. It’s time to go ahead and leave the kind of legacy in MMA. But I cannot do that in the UFC with the kind of opponents they want to give me.”
Teixeira will enter the fight with a 17 fight win streak. Jackson lost his last two bouts and hasn’t won a fight since May 2011.
At UFC on FOX 5, the two will finally meet in the co-main event. The show will be held at the United Center in Chicago on January 26.
