Despite nothing being official from either side, a potential super-fight between Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre has a time frame set up. UFC president Dana White told ESPN’s SportsCenter on Thursday that the promotion is looking at May for Silva-GSP.
“Anderson Silva will be there Saturday watching, and if (GSP) wins, it’ll be a huge fight for us,” White said (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for transcribing). “It’ll probably be the biggest fight in UFC history.”
White reiterated that the bout would take place in either a “soccer stadium in Brazil, Dallas’ Texas Stadium, or we’d do Toronto again.”
Of course, White saying these things have been refuted by Silva and St-Pierre over the past few weeks. “The Spider” has said he is only in Toronto on vacation, while GSP has pushed to keep all the focus on his match Saturday night with Carlos Condit at UFC 154: St-Pierre vs. Condit.
“He said he wouldn’t fight Chael Sonnen again either, and he did,” White said. “He always comes out and says this stuff. I don’t know why he does it or why he says the things he says. I guarantee you he will be there Saturday. If Georges St-Pierre wins, those two will fight and it’ll probably be in May.”
