Chris Weidman confirmed what was previously reported on Wednesday, posting on Twitter that his family home was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Weidman did say that everyone is safe and healthy.
“Thx 4 the support!” Weidman wrote. “Could’ve been a lot worse, everything’s replaceable there are a lot of people who r worse off. Family is safe & healthy.”
Weidman, a contender in the UFC’s middleweight division, remained in his house after his wife and kids left before the brunt of Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast on Monday.
“Fortunate to have my family who live 5 (minutes) away to stay at,” Weidman wrote. “Some don’t have that option. Now just waiting on insurance to find out when they can come to assess damage and get contractor in. Hopefully be back in soon.”
Weidman, who is coming off a win over Mark Munoz, is slated to face Tim Boetsch this December at UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II.
