Brian Rogers Looks For Third Chance In Bellator Tournament

Brian Rogers (10-4) took home the win last night at Bellator 78, but not in his typical fashion. Of his previous wins, all have come via knockout or submission within the first round. At Bellator 78, Rogers took home his first unanimous decision and thinks it looks fine on his resume.

“It’s been kind of a goal of mine to have a unanimous decision win, not a split decision, not squeak one out, but just be in control for 15 minutes,” said Rogers to MMA Junkie. “And I think that’s what I was able to do tonight. It’s a small notch on the belt for me. Next time, I’ll try to get 10-8 rounds on the way. Other than that, it was good.”

By defeating Dominique Steele (6-3), Rogers looks to get back into the tournament picture. In his two previous opportunities he was defeated in the semifinals. Rogers is now 3-2 for Bellator and looks to start his first winning streak going forward. Steele lost in his Bellator debut and now rides a two fight losing streak. Both losses came via decision.

Rogers hopes that Bellator officials took notice of his performance.

“[I’m] looking forward to running through a tournament and getting a shot at the belt,” said Rogers. “I’m glad everyone saw a little bit of difference in my fighting ability and skills tonight. I’m just trying to evolve and move forward to show that I’m the best.”
