According to MMA Opinion, Erik Koch will return to action later this year against Ricardo Lamas. The two featherweights will meet at the year-end UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II card from Las Vegas.
The announcement could mean one of two things. Koch wants to return sooner than UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will be able to, or the UFC told “New Breed” they were going to stick with Aldo-Frankie Edgar.
Koch was originally set to met Aldo earlier this year, but “Scarface” pulled out with an injury. The bout was re-scheduled for October, but this time, Koch was forced out. Aldo later exited the card, as well, after an auto accident.
Koch (13-1) has earned four consecutive victories, including two inside the Octagon. He has not fought, however, since September of 2011.
Lamas (12-2) upset Hatsu Hioki this past June, earning a decision victory. He has won three straight, including a submission win over Cub Swanson.
