Jeremy Stephens Released From Jail, Issues Statement

Jeremy Stephens has been released from jail, according to a statement issued by his management team on Wednesday. Stephens had spent the last 12 days in jail in both Minnesota and Iowa due to a warrant out for willful injury and assault causing bodily injury.

“Jeremy was released from custody from the Polk County Jail,” the statement read. “As you know, Jeremy has spent the last (12) days incarcerated, both in Iowa and Minnesota, missing his October 5 UFC fight against Yves Edwards, as well as many lucrative financial opportunities associated with that bout. While Jeremy’s employer (UFC), his family, friends and loyal fans have stood behind him, certainly the recent events have garnered some negative media attention.”

Stephens was arrested the day of his fight with Edwards in Minneapolis, as police were able to place him in custody because the warrant in Iowa extended to neighboring states.

“Jeremy’s legal team is already hard at work to prove what many already know; he is not guilty of the crimes he’s been accused of,” the statement continued. “We ask that everyone respect Jeremy’s privacy throughout this case.”
