Erick Silva vs. Jon Fitch
Former welterweight contender Jon Fitch (26-4-1) takes on rising star Erick Silva (14-2) in our next bout. The third man inside the Octagon will be Marc Goddard. Joe Rogan says Silva has “massive, massive amounts of potential.”
Round 1: Silva flinches a quick kick, but doesn’t pull the trigger. Silva looks a weight class bigger than Fitch, throwing a big knee but Fitch catches it and takes him to the ground. Fitch with a hook in, as Silva attempts to get up. Fitch powers him back down, working a hook in again and attempting to secure the choke. Fitch peppering Silva with rights to the face as he remains on his back. Fitch drags Silva back to the mat again as we go under three minutes in the round. Fitch with a standing arm-triangle, but Silva gets out and they square off. Front-kick and a jumping front-kick by Silva miss, but a huge right doesn’t ad he ties Fitch up. Fitch turns things, chases Silva across the cage but is unable to take him down. Elbow by Fitch sends Silva spinning away, but he recovers. Knee to the body by Silva, but Fitch catches it and works for another takedown, getting it with a double-leg. Fitch breaks Silva down again, throwing a hook in as the round comes to an end.

Round 2: Silva just misses with a huge left, spins and misses again. Fitch with a knee, but is swept to the ground by Silva, who takes the back quickly. Silva has the right arm of Fitch tied up, but Fitch powers and reverses things. Fitch holding the leg, but gives up his back and Silva starts teeing off with rights. Knee by Fitch answers a knee from Silva. Silva slips out as Fitch attempts a takedown, and the Brazilian takes him down, takes the back and locks in his hooks. Silva with a rear-naked choke attempt with over a minute to go in the round. Fitch breaks out of the choke for now, but Silva is still in a strong position. Fitch has now defended all 24 submission attempts put on him by his opponents, as he reverses and takes the back of Silva, landing big rights to the face. Fitch goes for an armbar in the final 10 seconds, but Silva avoids it by slipping out.

Round 3: Fitch trying to fire up the crowd, throwing his arms in the air. He goes right after Silva and takes him to the mat, as Silva appeared exhausted between the second and third rounds. Fitch unloading with rights as he takes the back of the Brazilian. Fitch hammering away as Silva appears done, doing nothing offensively now. Fitch went for a choke and an armbar, but Silva slipped out, and grabbed a guillotine. Fitch signals he is fine with a thumb’s up, and gets out. Fitch telegraphs an armbar attempt and takes the back again, rocking Silva with lefts this time. Silva gets back up, eats a pair of knees, and Fitch takes him right back down. Silva is flattened out and Fitch is just hammering away on a defenseless Silva. Just over a minute to go in this one. More of Fitch ground-and-pound as the ref warns Silva to fight back. Fitch with elbows, lefts, rights in the full mount. A second warning for Silva to fight back as we go under 20 seconds.
