Win, lose, or draw it’s the Brazilian youth who will be better off after UFC 153 as Chris Camozzi (17-5) has decided to donate a portion of his purse to a local social project. The UFC has decided to match the offer. The money will go to Institute Reacao, where they offer free judo instruction and other activities that help nearly 500 local children from the area.
“When I found out I was fighting down here, I knew they have a couple of troubled areas, so my manager, Jason Genet, and I looked into it and found the Institute Reacao,” said Camozzi to MMA Junkie. “We realized the UFC deals with them, and it’s a good cause, so we got in touch with Flavio and worked out some details.”
Camozzi fights Luiz Cane (12-4) on the preliminary card that will air via Facebook. Cane has dropped to 1-3 for the UFC as Camozzi walks in on a two fight win streak.
Camozzi also plans to auction his gear from the fight off.
“I like to give back and help the kids,” said Camozzi. “The UFC has helped me so much; it’s only right to return the favor.”
