Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson will be able to settle their differences in December. The Ultimate Fighter coaches will meet in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale on December 15.
The card will feature the finals of TUF, along with a five-round war between Carwin and Nelson. The event takes place from The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It will air live on FX.
“Roy Nelson has gotten under Shane Carwin’s skin all season, and Shane’s ready to try to knock him out,” UFC president Dana White said. “I don’t expect this one to go the distance. Roy and Shane were civil to each other on ‘TUF,’ but they can’t stand each other and after having to spend six weeks together, Shane said he can’t wait to knock Roy out.”
The current season of TUF airs each Friday night. The show is still in the opening round of the elimination fights.
“These two are both known for having heavy hands,” White said. “Chances are someone is getting knocked out.”
The UFC also confirmed several other fights, as Mike Pyle faces James Head; Nick Catone meets TJ Waldburger; Rustam Khabilov battles Vinc Pichel; Reuben Duran tangles with Hugo Viana; and Johnny Bedford meets Marcos Vinicius.
