After seven years in the business, Jim Wallhead (23-6) has concluded that his training technique was all wrong and has quickly changed it.
“Looking back, I never even trained right for fights,” Wallhead on MMA Junkie Radio. “My diet was pretty poor, and I was overtraining and cutting weight wrong. To get wins the way I was doing things is pretty good. I sure didn’t think I showcased my full potential.”
Even though he hasn’t fought since December 2011, Wallhead continued to work with his training camp while inactive. He returns to action at Bellator 74 this today, September 28, when he takes on Lyman Good (12-2).
“As far as camps go and stuff, I finally feel like this is the best camp I’ve had,” said Wallhead. “Obviously, everyone gets their little knocks and bruises and stuff, but as far as camps go and all of my training, I finally feel now like I’ve done things correctly.”
