Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida has talked – briefly – about a potential move to middleweight. However, with Anderson Silva currently holding down the title in the division, “The Dragon” doesn’t seem to keen on the idea.
During a recent interview with Globo Esporte, though, Machida was asked about facing UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Rumors currently have Silva and GSP on track to compete in a super-fight, possibly as soon as early 2013.
“It would be an interesting karate duel, but I don’t know at what weight we would do it,” said Machida, of facing GSP. “If it is at 185 pounds, I will go for it.”
Machida recently turned down a shot at UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. He is not training right now, as a minor knee injury has kept him on the sidelines.
