Strikeforce officials confirmed with MMAjunkie.com that Daniel Cormier will remain on the November 3 card. Cormier’s scheduled opponent, Frank Mir, has been forced out of the fight with an injury.
Reports have stated that Mir suffered a knee injury in training. The card is set for Oklahoma City and will air on Showtime.
Cormier (10-0) claimed the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix title earlier this year, defeating Josh Barnett in the finals. He is expected to enter the UFC after making one more appearance for Strikeforce.
Mir (16-6) would have became the first active UFC fighter to compete for Strikeforce. He lost to UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos earlier this year.
Strikeforce is working on securing an opponent for Cormier.
