After an unsuccessful attempt to win The Ultimate Fighter, Marcus Brimage (5-1) went to American Top Team (ATT) where he decided to drop down to a featherweight. With the help from ATT, he is ready for his next challenge in submission specialist Jimy Hettes (10-0).
“Look, we’ve got a lot of good ground guys at ATT,” said Brimage on MMA Fighting. “If it hits the ground, I’m confident I’ll be able to get back to my feet. But it’s not like I’m looking to go in there and trade submissions with him. He’s aggressive with his submissions. I’m aggressive in my standup. We’ll see how it goes Saturday night.”
Both men enter the fight undefeated in the UFC at two wins apiece. Brimage won his past two fights in the decision and Hettes has won nine of his fights via submission.
Brimage sees a win against Hettes as that next step to help solidify his spot among the best in the division.
“Hettes is the one with all the hype,” said Brimage MMA Fighting. “I know this is my opportunity to go in there and make a name for myself. If I win, they’ll be talking about me.”
Brimage vs. Hettes takes place on the preliminary card of UFC 152.
