It’s not Anderson Silva, but Chris Weidman is still excited to get back inside the Octagon. Despite recently undergoing elbow surgery, Weidman says he will be ready to face Tim Boetsch this December.
“He is a warrior,” said Weidman, during a recent appearance on UFC Tonight. “He is a tough guy. I am excited for the challenge to see what I can do against that guy. I am going to train my butt off, hope to be 100-percent healthy, and go out there and see what I can do.”
Weidman was hoping to turn a stunning victory over Mark Munoz into a title shot vs. Silva. Instead, “The Spider” has opted to face Stephan Bonnar at 205 pounds in October.
“The All-American” called out Silva after his performance against Munoz, and continued to do so in subsequent interviews. However, Silva’s management team has claimed the contenders in the middleweight division are not ready to face the champion.
