Jon Jones On If He’s Cleared Out The UFC’s Light Heavyweight Division

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has defeated three former UFC titleholders since winning the belt. Saturday night, at UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort, “Bones” will meet another in Vitor Belfort.

So, with a win over “The Phenom,” will Jones have cleaned out the division? Not a chance, according to the fighter.

“In no way have I ‘cleared out’ the division,” said Jones, during open workouts Wednesday. “Everyone’s style is a puzzle for me, and who knows which style I will have the most trouble with. I’m about to fight my fifth straight UFC champion – which I was told is a UFC record – and I’m very proud of fighting the best guy available in each of my fights.”

Jones won the belt from Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and defended it successfully vs. Quinton “Rampage’ Jackson and Lyoto Machida last year. He earned another title defense victory over Rashad Evans earlier this year.

“That’s how you build a legacy in (this) sport,” Jones said. “Vitor Belfort is a UFC original, a real, true legend. He will have something planned for me, and I’ve prepared to react to anything he does.”
