Dana White On UFC 153 Injuries: “I Have Time To Fix This One”

For UFC president Dana White, replacing fights on scheduled cards has become routine. Tuesday, however, was a day of firsts, as both the main and co-main events for UFC 153: Aldo vs. Edgar were scrapped.

Jose Aldo, who was set to defend his UFC featherweight title against Frankie Edgar in the main event, suffered more severe injuries than originally thought during an auto accident earlier this month and was knocked out. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was forced out of a meeting with Glover Teixeira due to an elbow injury.

“I got to fix it now,” said White, in an interview with Yahoo! Sports. “I have time to fix this one, and we’ll figure something out.”

White also said that Edgar, who agreed to step in on short notice and face Aldo after Erik Koch went down with an injury of his own, is “devastated right now,” and added that “this kid can’t catch a break either.”

The UFC appears to be working hard to re-arrange the UFC card, which is set for Brazil this October.

“Everyone was pumped up,” White said. “It’s a tough one, but it’s part of the business. It is what it is.”
