Thiago Alves (19-9) has responded to Siyar Bahadurzada’s (21-4-1) earlier comments that he would turn the fighter nicknamed pitbull into a poodle.
“It would be great to shut him up, but I fight whoever [UFC matchmaker] Joe Silva pairs me up with,” said Alves on TATAME. “I have to fight someone.”
The two were supposed to fight at UFC 149, but injuries to both men forced them to pull out of the card. Their next fight is currently unknown.
Alves sees Bahadurzada as too arrogant for someone who only has one UFC fight under his name. Alves is currently 11-5 since he debuted for the UFC in 2005.
“He’s nothing compared to the level of competition I’m used to,” said Alves. “I’m fighting in the UFC for almost seven years and I had never had an easy fight. He’s very cocky and I love fighting people who talk too much. It motivates me and brings out my best.”
