After some time to think about what’s next, Joe Warren (7-3) hopes Bellator will allow him to return and fight as a bantamweight again.
After five wins, which included capturing the featherweight championship, Warren has lost his last two fights for Bellator. In the process he lost his championship and now looks to rejoin the company as a bantamweight, a class that he feels he’s better suited for him.
“That’s not the way I want to go out,” said Warren on MMA Junkie. “I’d like to give it one more run at ’35. My losses were one crazy shot, and I fought Pat Curran, arguably the best featherweight in the world. It’s not my right weight, but I was the champ and I had to defend. Can I have one more shot at ’35?”
Warren fought in Bellator’s Season 5 bantamweight tournament, but was defeated in the first round.
Bjorn Rebney has expressed interest in giving Warren another chance.
