Bellator CEO Sees “King Mo” Lawal Debuting In TNA This Year

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney scooped right in and signed former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal the second he could. Lawal, who is currently sidelined with both an injury and a suspension, added in a deal with the professional wrestling promotion TNA when he signed with Bellator, providing him an early return to TV.

Lawal (8-1) is expected to return to MMA in early 2013, but Rebney sees him stepping inside a different kind of arena as early as October.

“Probably late October (for TNA), and then obviously he’ll do as much ‘Impact’ as he can until he has to get hyper-focused on his first fight for us, which will be right at the beginning of January,” said Rebney, in an interview with “He’s got an electrifying personality, and he’s the perfect guy that Dixie (Carter) and I have been looking for literally for the last year to fill both of those spots.”

Carter is in charge of TNA, working alongside Rebney. The two shows will begin airing in January on Spike TV.
