Antonio Banuelos Plans To Push The Pace In Lighter Weight Class

After fighting in several weight classes throughout his 10 year career, Antonio Banuelos (20-8) looks to find success as a flyweight now.

“For my upcoming fights at 125, I just want to press it, just redline it, and just go out there and fight at the pace I want to fight,” said Banuelos on MMA Weekly. “When I go out and I’m doing what I do best, doing my thing, I can’t be stopped.”

Banuelos lost in his previous fight in December 2011 and has since regrouped his training process.

“[I] Worked on my strength and conditioning a lot,” said Banuelos. “I’ve been focusing a lot on my wrestling and foot work because I want to get back to that. I’m feeling more well-rounded in everything; my striking, wrestling and jits work.”

He will make his flyweight debut at Legacy FC 14 against Joshua Sampo (7-2). The show will air live on AXS TV on September 14.

“I’m not here to fight nobodies,” said Banuelos. “I just want to go out and be the best, and to do that you’ve got to go out and fight the top guys, and that’s what I want to do.”
