Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has made it known that she wants to face former Strikeforce featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino. That, however, has issues for Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker to put together.
First, Justino is suspended until late in 2012. Add in the fact that she says she cannot drop down to 135, and it appears the bout needs to be worked on from a contract standpoint before we can discuss it happening.
Now, Coker is telling MMA fans that he believes Rousey (6-0) will want to compete again before Justino (10-1) is even legally cleared.
“I’m sure Ronda would like to fight before (December),” said Coker, in an interview with MMAjunkie.com. “She barely broke a sweat in her last fight. It’s something where she’s been dominant and she’s going to want to fight, I think, before ‘Cyborg’ can actually get back in the cage off the suspension.”
Rousey defeated Sarah Kaufman in under a minute earlier this year, scoring her sixth armbar victory. Strikeforce has cards set for later this month and in early November.
