Former UFC heavyweight champions Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia collided for a fourth time Friday at ONE FC 5: Pride of a Nation. The bout, however, failed to determine a victor, as it was ruled a no-contest in the second round.
Sylvia appeared to win the opening round of action with a late attack on Arlovski. In the second, Arlovski dropped Sylvia and unloaded with an illegal soccer kick.
In ONE FC, soccer kicks are allowed, but must come after the referee has declared an open attack. This did not happen, and ONE FC decided to call the fight a no-contest instead of a disqualification win for Sylvia.
Both fighters appeared willing to meet for a fifth time. Sylvia, who won two of the three previous meetings between the ex-champions, has stated he is signed to a three-fight deal with ONE FC.
