Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will receive a shot at UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in his debut at 145 pounds. Edgar was announced as a replacement for Erik Koch, stepping in on October 13 to meet Aldo at UFC 154: Aldo vs. Edgar.
Edgar was defeated in his quest to regain the UFC 155-pound title earlier this month, as Benson Henderson scored a second consecutive decision victory over “The Answer.” Many have been pushing for Edgar to drop to featherweight for a while now, and the back-to-back defeats gave him more of a reason.
Now, with the immediate title shot sitting in front of him, Edgar expressed his happiness with the decision via Twitter Friday.

Duke Roufus, the trainer for Koch, wished Edgar luck against Aldo, adding, “You are a class act!” It is being reported that Koch suffered a knee injury. He was originally set to meet Aldo earlier this year, but “Scarface” was forced to postpone the bout due to a minor injury.
