Vladimir Matyushenko (26-2) makes his return to the UFC when he takes on Matt Hamill (10-4) after almost a yearlong sabbatical.
“I had to take a little time off to recover from some injuries,” said Matyushenko to TATAME. “I had some family health issues related to my father that required me to go back to Belarus. But now everything is sorted out and my focus can go back to training and fighting.”
In his last fight, in 2011, Matyushenko lost brining his UFC record to 8-4. Hamill has lost his last two UFC fights.
Matyushenko plans to fight until he can’t deliver a good show.
“As long as I can continue to make good fights, and I am involved in interesting match-ups that add to my legacy I will continue to fight,” said Matyushenko.
Matyushenko vs. Hamill takes place at UFC 152.
“I am very excited to be back,” said Matyushenko. “I was actually getting bored with the time off.”
