The Strikeforce Welterweight Championship is on the mind of Tarec Saffiedine (13-3) after racking up three wins in a row, and he now wants a chance at Nate Marquardt (30-10-2).
“I have three wins in a row since Tyron Woodley and I think it’s my time to get that gold,” said Saffiedine.
Since Saffiedine’s debut for Strikeforce in 2010, he is 6-1 for the promotion. With the exception of one fight, they have all gone to a decision. He is currently on a three fight win streak, with his last win taking place earlier this month. Marquardt won the vacant welterweight championship in his debut for the company in July.
“I think I match up pretty well,” said Saffiedine. “He has a particular style in standup that I think I can manage to get an advantage on. I’m going to work really hard to get there. I believe I improve my wrestling in every fight and I keep improving it.”
