Mike Dolce is the innovator of “The Dolce Diet”, which has helped several MMA fighters have little trouble making weight. Dolce appeared on UFC Tonight recently to discuss why his plan works.
“It is an approach to living based on earth grown nutrients,” Dolce said. “It’s not a supplement-type of diet, per say, I focus on things from the earth so that we can live a long, healthy life.”
Dolce doesn’t believe in crash-dieting or making drastic weight cuts. He said that currently, he is working with the likes of Chael Sonnen, Thiago Alves, Jay Hieron, Jake Ellenberger and Nik Lentz. Hieron and Ellenberger are actually set to face each other on September 1 at UFC 151: Jones vs. Henderson.
One of Dolce’s former pupils, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, missed weight for his last fight. Jackson came in at well over 205 pounds for a meeting with Ryan Bader. Jackson, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, lost by decision.
“I don’t know what happened,” Dolce said. “Really, just what I read. The only interactions I had was just support. Things go bad sometimes. He is a good guy.”
