A fight between Tarec Saffiedine and Roger Bowling was put together in hopes of getting a contender for new Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt. While Saffiedine earned a win at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker failed to name him the No. 1 contender.
“It’s something we just haven’t sat down to talk about,” Coker said. “What I like to do is sit back and look at how they perform.”
Saffiedine (13-3) has won five of his six Strikeforce fights. The 25-year-old has won three straight since a decision loss to Tyron Woodley.
Marquardt won the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title earlier this year with a victory over Woodley.
