UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones made a push to enter the ranks of the heavyweights last year. However, officials within the UFC let Jones know that there were still obstacles he needed to overcome at 205 pounds.
Next month, Jones will face one of those obstacles, as he meets Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC 151: Jones vs. Henderson. For “Bones,” battling it out with the big boys of the UFC remains on his mind – just a few years down the road, though.
“Coming up to heavyweight is something I’d like to do maybe in the next two or three years,” said Jones, during a recent interview on Fuel TV (thanks to MMAWeekly.com for transcribing). “Dan Henderson is my main priority and focus, but I have a lot of years left.”
Jones has the body to easily add muscle and mass, as he stands well over six-feet. As a former wrestler, he knows what it takes to add and subtract weight in an instant.
