Ronaldo Souza may be known for his jiu-jitsu but you can’t count out his striking. The thirty-two veteran finished the aggressive Derek Brunson in just 41 seconds.
“All my training partners talk about my hands,” explained Souza. “I come very prepared for this fight. I’m very confident. I do my best. I train in the best gym in the world. I train at the X-Gym.”
“Jacare” caught Brunson with a right hand before following up with yet another to floor the Jackson’s MMA member. The win is significant as he notches his second straight over a rising contender.
Despite his loss to titleholder Luke Rockhold in 2011, the win certainly puts him in contention for the belt.
“I’m former Strikeforce Middleweight Champ. I come back for more,” exclaimed Souza.
The BJJ black belt improves to 16-3(1) while Brunson drops to 9-2 after losing his prior bout to former UFC fighter, Kendall Grove.
