Miesha Tate made a statement Saturday night at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman, overcoming an all-out-assault by Julie Kedzie to lock in an armbar in the third. Kedzie fought for over two minutes to avoid the submission, but Tate was relentless, locking it in and securing the victory.
“The eye of the tiger,” Tate said. “She’s a veteran and has been in this longer than anyone fighting (Saturday). I really brought it.”
Tate was defeated by Ronda Rousey earlier this year via armbar, dropping her Strikeforce bantamweight title to the former Olympian.
“I worked a lot on my ground game,” Tate said. “I felt good when I got that armbar (locked in).”
As for the main event between Rousey and Sarah Kaufman, Tate offered up her prediction by saying, “I will probably go with Rousey, but one second won’t go by where I won’t enjoy watching her get punched in the face by Kaufman.”
