The allure to host a UFC card at Cowboys Stadium is still on track according to the UFC bosses, who want to make the main event a superfight.
“We’ll keep an eye on it,” said Dana White. “It’s got to be the right fight. If we’re doing Dallas Cowboys Stadium it would probably either be a catchweight superfight or something else that’s huge.”
The venue has been in talk with UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta about hosting a show in early 2013.
“I don’t think we’d do anything in January but we’ve been in contact with them,” said Fertitta. “Dallas Cowboys Stadium is something we definitely want to do and we’re focused on, but it’s tricky. It’s so busy, it’s hard to get a date that works for us.”
In March 2010, the stadium held a boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey that held just under 51,000 people.
The largest gated attendance for a UFC show was at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario for UFC 129 with 55,724 people.
