Nate Diaz was named the No. 1 contender to the UFC lightweight title earlier this week by UFC president Dana White. It appears that Diaz will face Benson Henderson for the belt after Henderson earned a split decision victory over Frankie Edgar Saturday night at UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar II.
Diaz, who topped Jim Miller and Donald Cerrone in his two most recent fights, is likely to face Henderson late in 2012. Diaz made a simple post on Twitter after the results were announced.
“????,” Diaz wrote.
Cesar Gracie, the trainer and manager for Diaz, posted, “(Diaz) we got the fight we wanted.” Edgar has been a training partner of Diaz in the past, and works with the Gracie gym near his home in New Jersey.
