Japanese MMA fighter Ayaka Hamasaki (8-0) made a successful U.S. debut for Invicta FC and looks to return to the company in the near future.
Hamasaki defeated Lacey Schuckman (7-5) with an armbar submission with 15 seconds left in round three at Invicta FC 2.
While Hamasaki wants to return to Invicta FC this year she knows she still has to defend her Jewels Lightweight Championship back in Japan, which means a return won’t happen until early 2013.
“I wanted to fight in October, but I believe Invicta FC wants to me to wait till early next year which is fine,” said Hamasaki. “I probably have to defend Jewels title, so I will just follow what Jewel’s plan is.”
Invicta FC plans to introduce championships around the time of their October show.
Whatever Invicta FC decides to do with Hamasaki, she is content as she looks to improve her skills.
“I am not sure what kind of impression I made to the North American fans but I know I found new assignments,” Hamasaki. “I was not used to the rules, so [I hadn’t] trained on throwing elbows yet I couldn’t do that in the fight. For my next fight I am going to train harder and I want to put up a good exciting fight.”
“I am still new to this sport, I need more experience, so for now I am just concentrating on winning one fight at a time,” said Hamasaki. “That is my goal for now and if I keep doing this then the championship opportunity should naturally come my way.”
Hamasaki’s next fight is currently unknown.
