Former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard was unsuccessful in his UFC debut last month, falling to Tim Boetsch via decision. Now, Lombard is reporting that he was injured in training, and likely should not have even taken the bout.
“I want to let al (my) last fight injured. I wasn’t 100% but I went to the doctors…I have a fracture sternum with torn cartilage, I got this (injury) in my training for my fight with Tim Boetsch,” Lombard posted on his Facebook page recently. “I have to be out of training for 6 weeks I should never have fought like that, but I didn’t want to let my fans and the UFC down, love you all.”
Lombard entered the fight on a 24-fight unbeaten streak, but seemed to lack of normal aggressive style he fought with against Boetsch.
