Jon Fitch wants to face former UFC champion BJ Penn again inside the Octagon. The two fought to a draw last year, and Fitch offered to replace an injured Rory MacDonald at UFC 152: Benavidez vs. Johnson and meet Penn.
Fitch, while on a conference call helping promote Fight Factory, a reality series for Nuvo TV, laid into Penn. Recently, “The Prodigy” mentioned training at American Kickboxing Academy, but that doesn’t seem likely to happen soon.
“We’ve got fighters who come out to fight, fighters who will face anyone and don’t hide,” Fitch said (thanks to MMAFighting.com for the quotes). “You’ve also got cowards out there like BJ Penn who say they want to fight people but then they run and hide. Yes, he’s a coward. He wouldn’t be welcomed (at AKA).”
Fitch is set to face Erick Silva at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, but was willing to switch out of the fight for the opportunity to meet Penn again.
