Even with one arm, the love of MMA has not stopped XFC lightweight fighter Nick Newell (8-0) from continuing his dream.
Newell suffers from congenital amputation, which is when someone is born with a limb not completely developed. For Newell, his left arm ends just past the elbow.
While leaving Mr. Chow’s restaurant a TMZ reporter asked Dana White, who was unfamiliar with Newell, if he thinks it’s possible for a one armed fighter to join the ranks of the UFC.
“I think it’s hard to fight in the UFC with two arms, let alone one,” said White. “I never say no to anything. There are amazing people out there who accomplish amazing things.”
Newell last fought at XFC 19: Charlotte Showdown on August 3, where he secured a KO victory over David Mays (6-4). Newell’s has won seven of his eight fights by TKO, KO or submission. Of those seven, they have all taken place in the first round.
Newell is expected to challenge Eric Reynolds for XFC Lightweight Championship later in the year.
