Sean Sherk wasted no time in making himself available for a match with BJ Penn. News of Rory MacDonald’s exit from the planned UFC 152: Benavidez vs. Johnson fight came out late Saturday night, and Sherk said he would be willing to step in.
“Now that rory (MacDonald) is out lets do this (Sherk) vs (Penn) #2 (Dana White) make it happen!!” Sherk posted on Twitter.
Sherk has not fought since 2010, when he earned a split decision over Evan Dunham. Back in 2008, Penn caught Sherk with a flying knee and earned a TKO victory and the UFC lightweight title.
It remains to be seen what Penn and the UFC decide to do, as “The Prodigy” seemed only interested in a match with MacDonald.
