Michael Bisping made it clear during a recent appearance on FUEL TV’s post-fight show for UFC 149: Faber vs. Barao. His bout at UFC 152 with Brian Stann is the main event.
“In my opinion, and I think in most people’s, this is the main event,” Bisping said. “This is the real main event. Two big, hard hitting guys. No one cares about little flyweights; this is the real main event, this is the real big fight. Tune in cause someone’s getting knocked out.”
The “real” main event of the card features Joseph Benavidez taking on Demetrious Johnson to crown the first-ever UFC flyweight champion. The Bisping-Stann affair is slotted in the co-main event spot, and could push Bisping into a future showdown with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
UFC 152 takes place September 22 from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Another bout signed to the card will see BJ Penn meet Rory MacDonald.
