UFC president Dana White wanted to see 1.3 million pay-per-view buys for UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II. However, as White disclosed recently, the actual number did not reach that level.
While the UFC has not released any official number, White told media members following the UFC 149: Faber vs. Barao pre-fight press conference that, “the number didn’t suck.”
“I truly believed we would do a 1.3 million,” White said (thanks to MMAHeat.com for the video coverage). “It’s the first time I was disappointed with an awesome number. Everything was trending to do (1.3 million).”
As for the change in date for the planned Indianapolis card, White cited an inability to get the venue locked down as a reason for changing the location. The card will now take place in October instead of September, though no place has been named yet.
