Chael Sonnen has been one of the most dominate middleweights in the world. Well, outside of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
Despite suffering a second loss to Silva recently, Mike Dolce, the man in charge of Sonnen’s nutrition program, believes his fighter is still the better one.
“After the fight (Sonnen) said, ‘I know I lost, but I’m still better than that guy,’ and I agree, just on these two nights, he wasn’t,” said Dolce, in a recent interview with MMASucka.com. “We respect that and appreciate that, but he’ll certainly be back.”
Sonnen controlled the first round – much like he did in the first fight through four rounds – but Silva landed a big blow that dropped Sonnen in the second. He continued to apply the pressure, scoring a TKO victory.
“Chael is an amazing guy, an amazing athlete, a class act,” Dolce said. “We all know that you don’t pick a fight with Anderson Silva unless you’re crazy or really talented, and Chael is really talented.”
