Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold doesn’t believe he has earned the right amount of respect. After successfully defending his title against Keith Jardine, Rockhold will finally step inside the cage with Tim Kennedy.
The two are the main event to Saturday’s Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy event from Portland. The main card airs live on Showtime.
Rockhold let it be known during the final press conference earlier this week that he feels like a win over Kennedy places him in good standing in the overall middleweight rankings.
“I’m fighting to legitimize myself and keep bettering myself and to prove to everything that I am one of the best in the world,” Rockhold said. “They need to realize how good we (Strikeforce fighters) are and if they haven’t seen that, then they don’t know what they are missing.”
Rockhold is 9-1 in his career, including eight consecutive victories. He earned the title with a decision triumph over Ronaldo Souza back in 2011.
